Human’s Best Friend – or more?
I just returned from two days of lobbying my Representatives and Senators (all environmentalists) for stronger climate and environmental legislation and push back against our current anti-science, anti-climate, etc, regime. The activity was stressful in multiple ways – something I suspect many of you can empathize with. However, I just read this brief article in “The Conversation” on humans, dogs, & stress, and simply reading it & watching the brief video made me think of the reception I got when I finally got home. Vicki, my wife, was be happy to see me, but l needed to sit on the ground as Izzy & Molly (our two golden retrievers) wiggled, wagged, whined, and licked exuberantly welcoming me home. Again, something that any of you with dogs can empathize with.

This article is a good reminder of how important de-stressing is and how important pets, in this case dogs specifically, can be in managing stress. So, in line with my normal recommendations to take action, if you have pet, especially a dog, take a bit of your day to share time with them for both your sakes. And, don’t forget the extra attention to your partner!
Cheers, Bill
