Southern Oregon Climate Action Now and Coronavirus

(March 14, 2020)

Although SOCAN has no office or employees, so we already all ‘work from home,’ we are extremely mindful of the danger of spreading the disease through gatherings at committee and public meetings.  Since the current state of response involves closing schools, Oregon Shakespeare Festival events, and sporting events and so on for at least a month, we have decided to take similar precautions.

This means that the SOCAN March monthly meeting, scheduled for March 31st, will be postponed until later in the year.  We are negotiating with presenters to re-schedule.

We have contracted with Zoom to undertake virtual meetings from our computers at home to avoid the need for meetings and promoting associated risks.  We are perfecting our use of this technology and will be holding meetings through this interface until further notice.

The Master Climate protector course with class meetings on Monday nights will take this Monday (16th) off and push the remaining sessions back a week.  This Monday will be used to perfect our ability to teach the class via Zoom.  It will require some modifications to our presentation format.

We are trying to post changes on the SOCAN Calendar (socan.eco/events) and our Facebook page (SOClimate) as decisions are made. Please contact us directly if you have questions about our events. (Kathy@socan.eco or Alan@socan.eco)
