Many in the business community attempt to conduct their operations in line with their personal values. This can involve being responsible for environmental protection or maintaining a business climate of social justice both in terms of employees and customers. Unfortunately, only too often, such business behavior goes unrecognized and unappreciated. Through its ‘Businesses Taking Action’ project, Southern Oregon Climate Action Now (SOCAN) seeks to provide businesses displaying environmental and social justice sensitivity with the recognition they deserve while also providing potential customers the opportunity to use this information when deciding which business to support.
During its September general meeting SOCAN will introduce the Businesses Taking Action program, explain how it achieves its purpose, and provide an opportunity for three recognized businesses to discuss what they are doing and why.
A video of the program is available.
SOCAN meets monthly via Zoom with speakers on Topics related to climate change.
These meetings are free and open to the public
