Video: Oil on Ice (2004) 57 minutes

With volatile energy prices, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) has been a primary target in the debate over our energy future. Powerful political forces are working to take advantage of the current economic climate to “drill here, drill now,” pushing politicians who were previously opposed to drilling to reconsider their positions.

The video “Oil on Ice” explores why drilling for oil in the Arctic is not wise policy.  The video shows why the threats to Arctic wildlife – marine and terrestrial – are huge, how drilling threatens the way of life of Indigenous Peoples, why it is not a sound economic proposition, and how we can avoid the need.

The program is free and open to the public.
