As a 501-c-3 non-profit, Southern Oregon Climate Action Now cannot endorse candidates for office, but we can provide educational opportunities for voters to learn where candidates stand on the issues of interest to us. We have, therefore, invited all candidates for Jackson County Commissioner to participate in a forum on ‘Environmental Challenges.’ For information on the candidates, please visit their websites/Facebook pages:

Not all candidates have agreed to participate.
Candidates accepting our invitation at the time of this posting are: Seat 1 – Amy Thuren, Seat 3 – Lanita Witt.
Date: Monday October 15th
Time: 7:00 – 8:30 pm ++
Location: Medford Public Library, 205 S. Central Avenue, Medford
Subject: Environmental Challenges
Moderator: Liz Olson (who moderated our primary forum and kept it on time very well)
Approximate Format:
45 minutes of questions from the organizing team (90 seconds each) – including a round of opening remarks. This will include a few simple ‘Yes’ / ‘No’ / ‘Maybe’ questions. The questions will be circulated to candidates attending a week or so ahead of time.
45 minutes of questions from audience submitted on cards as they enter to prevent grandstanding statements rather than questions. These will be vetted by the team to avoid repetition and make sure questions are on the topic. This will include Closing Remarks.
We will provide an optional session following the forum of about 30 minutes during which candidates can meet potential voters at Break-out tables (one per candidate) with a moderator to ensure everyone is polite and one person does not dominate.
We anticipate streaming the event via our Facebook page and then posting a link to the video on this website.
We are grateful to our co-sponsors:
