This group generally meets monthly on the 3rd Wednesday, currently via ZOOM, at 2:30 pm.
The group decided to focus on responding to, or engaging in, rulemaking related to the Governor’s Executive Order charge to promote carbon sequestration in the state’s natural and working lands. However, because the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality Climate Protection Plan Rulemaking Advisory Committee is meeting all day (9:00 – 4:30 pm) we have cancelled the meeting to allow team members to attend the RAC meeting. This is because the agenda item at 11:30 will involve a discussion of compliance flexibility meaning Alternative Compliance Instruments (Options) – formerly called carbon offsets. These would be a valuable addition providing a funding mechanism to incentivize carbon sequestration in our natural and working lands. Anyone interested in this issue can watch the discussion at:

Our experiences suggests that the agenda item might be reached earlier if other discussions progress faster than expected, or a little later if they are delayed.
