Peer Counseling (Re-evaluation Counseling) Invitation
September 26, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Any organization needs to look after its members to prevent burnout and discouragement. This is especially true for volunteer organizations, and even more so with activists who are dealing with heavy issues–such as climate change.
How do we keep from getting discouraged when the task is so huge? What do we do with our fears and despair when we have to keep looking hopeful for the rest of the world?
Peer counseling is a way not only to care for ourselves, but to help each other and become more connected. Helping others and getting connected to people are known to reduce stress and increase happiness.
Ken Deveney will give a free talk on peer counseling (Re-evaluation Counseling) on Monday Sep. 26 from 6 to 7:30 at the Ashland Co-op Classroom, 300 N Pioneer St. If there is enough interest, a ten-week course will follow. In the course, you learn listening skills and work with a partner who will just listen to you and let you unload your feelings.
