The SOCAN-Ashland Climate Action Project is hosting a free Zoom screening of “Other Side of the Hill” in partnership with Ashland Works, Climate Reality Project-Southwestern Oregon Chapter, Geos Institute, McCloud Watershed Council, Pollinator Project Rogue Valley, Rogue Community College Earth Club, Southern Oregon Pachamama Alliance, Sustainable Rogue Valley, and Sustainability at Southern Oregon University.
“Other Side of the Hill” explores the impacts of a changing climate in rural Eastern Oregon – as seen through the eyes of local leaders on the ground. From innovative timber operations in Wallowa County to large scale solar in Lakeview, the film amplifies the voices of rural communities often left unheard. In a time of unprecedented cultural divide between rural and urban Oregon, we find common ground in an urgency to address a changing landscape. The 30-minute film will be followed by a discussion of prospects for furthering renewable energy technology adoption in Ashland and the greater Rogue Valley.
Guest panelists will include film director James Parker, Executive Co-Producer Deb Evans, and local renewable energy experts Ray Sanchez Pescador of Solarize Rogue and Shaun Franks, President of the Ashland Solar Cooperative.
