Oregon Legislature Joint Transportation Committee Hearing

August 31, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

The Oregon Legislature Joint Transportation Committee is holding a series of hearings around the state to gather public input for a forthcoming comprehensive transportation bill probably to be introduced during the 2017 Legislative Session.  Those who would like this bill to reflect needs imposed by global warming / climate change concerns are encouraged to attend the local hearing to be held August 31st at 5:00 pm in Medford Public Library, 205 S. Central Avenue Medford.  For more information, see this News Release.

IMG_20160713_112201698The tendency is to think that public transit is an urban need (Portland, Eugene etc), while rural communities (and we are thus defined) only want roads.  It would be valuable to stress that Southern Oregonians value public transit and would like to see service expanded.

It would also be valuable to stress that we support actions that reduce transportation emissions of greenhouse gases.  Besides endorsing public transit, this would include promotion of electric charging stations.

A Community Rally for public transportation will be held outside the library at 4:g 30 pm.
