Organized by Laura Davis
Due to the inability to meet City of Ashland event permitting requirements, March for Science Southern Oregon has been cancelled. After an extensive search, a volunteer planning committee was unable to find enough certified flaggers to obtain permits for road closures.
Southern Oregonians hoping to take part in March for Science can join the satellite march in Grants Pass, also on April 22, 10:00 a.m. at Riverside Park. Organizers also encourage science advocates to join the People’s Climate March planned for Pear Blossom Park blocks in downtown Medford on April 29 at 3:00 p.m.
In celebration of Earth Day, scientists will present “Scientists Speak Up,” at the Rogue Valley Earth Day celebration 11:45 – Noon, representing a global community who are advocating for the vital role science plays in our health, safety, economies, and governments. ScienceWorks Museum will present a ScienceLive show, “Science is Cool,” and the Pacifica Caterpillar mobile science learning center will feature activities about the solar system and weather. The festival features exhibits from organizations and agencies, activities for kids, local food vendors and live entertainment. It takes place outdoors at ScienceWorks Museum in Ashland.
