Climate change continues to impact communities across Oregon with increasing temperatures, reducing snowfall, water shortage, persistent drought, and ever-increasing wildfire risk. Those of us in rural Southern Oregon face these challenges; we are on the frontlines of the climate crisis every day.
For over a decade, SOCAN has been deeply rooted in the community. SOCAN promotes awareness of the science of global warming and the climate chaos it is imposing and, within the framework of resolving a history of social injustice, stimulates individual and collective action to address it. As a result, we are well positioned to continue promoting climate action.
To that end, SOCAN has initiated a major fundraising campaign to enhance the capacity of our organization and allow us to meet the continuing and increasing need for action. Through our efforts, we intend to hire our first Executive Director, which will allow us to expand our fundraising efforts and our impact across populations in Oregon. To do this, we need your help. You have always been and will continue to be the foundation that SOCAN is built on and at this moment we need you more than ever. With your help, we will reach our fundraising goals and together we will reach a new level of climate action.
Since space is limited, we would like to know how many will join us. If you plan to attend, please reply by September 2 to Isabella Lee Tibbetts at isabella@socan.eco indicating how many will be in your party.
