DEQ Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Program: October Town Hall Meeting

October 1, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Beginning Thursday, October 1, Oregonians are invited to share ideas and feedback about a new program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at a series of three virtual town halls. Programs that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are a key tool to help address the worsening effects of climate change.

These meetings are an opportunity to provide comments and to discuss:

  • The purpose of a GHG emissions reduction program
  • How this program will compliment other state initiatives to combat climate change
  • Key policy questions under consideration for a greenhouse gas emissions reduction program
  • What to expect during the formal rulemaking process

The following meeting materials are now available on DEQ’s website in English and Spanish:

  • Community Guide: overview of development process and public engagement opportunities
  • Policy Primer: reader-friendly introduction to core policy issues for a greenhouse gas emissions reduction program
  • Key Terms: definitions of words frequently used in program materials

Virtual town halls: webinar information
Please join us and provide your comments on any of the following dates. Webinar information is below and on DEQ’s website.

If you have time, please consider attending one or more of the sessions to strengthen the claim that rural Oregonians want climate action and support the EO.  Be ready, if someone asks for a vote of support for climate action among rural Oregonians, to indicate approval by clicking thumbs up in the Reaction icon.

Thursday, Oct. 1, 5 p.m.- 8 p.m.
