
Local climate groups will present legislation and organizing strategies in a public event, “Clean Energy Jobs 2018: Act Now!”, Sept. 7 in Medford in preparation for the 2018 Oregon legislative session.
Southern Oregon Climate Action Now (SOCAN) and Rogue Climate are backing a revamped version of the clean energy Jobs bill that was introduced as SB 1070 by Sen. Michael Dembrow and Rep. Ken Helm, chairs of the Senate Environment and Natural Resources Committee and House Energy and Environment Committee, respectively.
State Representative Pam Marsh of Ashland and Sonny Mehta, organizer with Renew Oregon in Portland, a statewide clean energy advocacy coalition will speak. Topics include a review the proposed Clean Energy Jobs Bill, evaluation of climate legislation in the 2017 legislative session, organizing strategies for the 2018 session.
The public event will be held Thursday, Sept. 7, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the large meeting room at the Medford Public Library, 205 S. Central, in Medford.
