The Ashland Climate & Energy Action Plan ad hoc Committee will present a draft ordinance to the Ashland City Council and your presence in support is requested. (Wear your orange SOCAN shirt.)
Ashland is taking a regional leadership role in efforts to reduce Greehouse gas emissions. It is reported that the draft ordinance now includes a 7% annual reduction rate of Greenhouse gas emissions, carbon neutral city operations by 2030, 50% reduction of city/community fossil fuel consumption by 2050, and 100% reduction of city/community fossil fuel consumption by 2100.
Please help us send a message to the council that Ashland needs to make real, aggressive, and legally binding commitments to reducing our impact on the global climate.
The original draft proposal was presented to the Ashland Climate & Energy Action Plan ad hoc Committee by Rogue Climate and Ashland Youth Climate Action. Louise Shawkat represents SOCAN on the ad hoc committee.
