In a move poised to become one of the largest deregulatory actions in U.S. history, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under Administrator Lee Zeldin has formally proposed rescinding the 2009 Greenhouse Gas Endangerment Finding, which serves as the legal foundation for regulating greenhouse gas emissions. The proposal, announced last week, would repeal all resulting greenhouse gas standards for motor vehicles and engines, a decision that has been praised by industry leaders but condemned by environmental groups and former public servants.
