Soil carbon sequestration has multiple functional roles in food production, soil and planetary health, sustainability of food and fiber (trees) and, in reducing concentrations of the greenhouse gas, atmospheric carbon dioxide. These benefits are widely accepted throughout the world and the mitigation potential is significant.
