Voices of the Valley Documentary – Phoenix Library

February 3 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Voices of the Valley: Stories of How Climate Change is Affecting Our Lives will be shown at the Phoenix Library.

The documentary was put together by SOCAN (Southern Oregon Climate Action Now) as one part of a larger “Voices of the Valley” project that includes a library exhibit. The 68-minute documentary features interviews with people speaking from various points of reference, ranging from health issues to effects on local business. Among those interviewed for the documentary, are a plant nursery owner, two young activists, Oregon Shakespeare Festival representatives, and the medical director for Jackson County Health and Human Services.

The exhibit is at the Phoenix Library from February 1 through February 16.  In the display, more than 60 people, ranging in age from middle schoolers to seniors voice their responses to our world of rising temperatures and more extreme weather – changes scientists say are accelerated by human-caused releases of greenhouse gases. The exhibit combines comments written on cards, most of them accompanied with a photograph of each person, as well as life-size photos of Valley residents.

The exhibit is displayed at the library at 510 West 1st Street, Phoenix, OR 97535. Library hours:  Sunday – Closed; Monday – closed; Tuesday – 11:00 to 5:00; Wednesday- 1:00 to 7:00; Thursday – 11:00 to 5:00; Friday – Closed; Saturday – 12:00 to 4:00.
